The San Mateo County Office Education leads the county in building and maintaining partnerships that support equitable and high-quality education for young children and their families. We support a variety of state and local programs that focus on early childhood education, from age zero to eight.
Programs and Services
California State Preschool Program
The California State Preschool Program is for children between the ages of three and five. Families who meet income requirements are eligible to enroll their children in full and half day programs.
Dual Language Learners
Çï¿ûÊÓƵ provides professional development services for educators and families to promote successful early learning experiences for children who are multilingual.
Early Learning Quality and Inclusion Partnership (EQ+IP)
Through the Early Learning Quality and Inclusion Partnership (EQ+IP), we work with other local, state and national organizations to coordinate the goals and plans of early learning programs in the county.
Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS)
Çï¿ûÊÓƵ programs and partners use a common rating system, the Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) to measure the quality of care and education provided.
The Big Lift
The Big Lift, is an initiative that supports reading proficiency from preschool through third grade with high-quality preschool enrollment, research informed literacy curriculum, optional summer learning programs, and parent engagement.
The Anne Campbell Center for Children and Families
The Anne Campbell Center for Children and Families is a hub for young children of all abilities where families can access academic, special education and community services. ACC hosts a number of the partners including California State Preschool, Izzi Head Start, and California Children's Services Medical Therapy Program.
